Orthodox Woolen semi spaced prayer rope with wooden beads, cross and tassel. Prayer ropes are used to help Eastern Orthodox Christians say the Jesus Prayer. "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy upon me, a sinner."
These prayer ropes are handmade in Thessaloniki, Greece with 100% natural wool. In the 66 knot rope, there is 1 wooden bead every 33 knots (33 were the years of Jesus on Earth).
In exploring Orthodox Christianity, I started looking for a beautiful handmade woolen prayer rope, as so many offered online are polyester and I couldn't imagine praying with synthetic fibers. I found these incredible handmade prayer ropes in beautiful colors and loved mine so much, I wanted to support Georgia in ordering them for my shop.
MATERIAL:
- Wool (100%): symbolises the Lamb of God, used vastly at Monasteries
- Wooden beads
- Scented with Myrrh oil
These ropes are handmade with the consideration that it's very important not to step aside from the traditional method of prayer rope tying, as well as keeping their look and feel as close as possible to the old, Orthodox monastic models. They tie these prayer ropes, in the same manner, our desert fathers used to tie them.
